#ReimagineLA is being led and follows the work of the LA Justice Coalition, which has been advocating for alternatives to incarceration, and a CARE FIRST approach to the county budget. While great strides have been made it was clear with this latest budgeting process that, even with the most progressive board in the history of LA County, we were unable to devote the necessary funds to advance those approaches in any substantial way. Last week, thousands of people called the meeting of supervisors in support of this proposed ballot measure, showing that the public is ready for our County statutes to reflect a reimagining of community investment and public safety.
